BARCLAY MIS PROTECTIVE SERVICES: METHAMPHETAMINE UPDATE Great job done by the AFP

Two Taiwanese men have been arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for allegedly importing 12 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden inside machinery from China.

On 2 June 2014, Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS) officers targeted a consignment described as "Torque Testers" which arrived in Sydney from China as sea cargo.

After an inconclusive x-ray, ACBPS officers physically examined the consignment which consisted of five wooden crates, each containing a black metal "Torque Tester".

The examination revealed the five objects each contained approximately 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, with a total weight of approximately 12 kilograms. The matter was then referred to the AFP.

AFP officers simulated a delivery to a residence in the Sydney suburb of Eastwood.

The 31-year-old and 24-year-old Taiwanese nationals were arrested by the AFP on Wednesday, 11 June 2014 at the residence, after they allegedly took possession of the consignment.

AFP Manager Crime Operations Jennifer Hurst said the AFP is committed to undertaking action to stop these harmful drugs from affecting Australian communities.
